For almost 2 years, our economy has been in the worst recession since the Great Depression, and for many whose businesses are suffering or who have lost their employment, it seems a lot longer.  The question of how much longer the recession will last and what the future holds is on everyone’s mind and affects every business, owner, manager, employee and family.

Robert DiClemente, the chief U.S. economist at Citigroup, will address the Club’s members and guests the evening of November 11th to provide his perspective and insights regarding the direction of the economy.  He will address what may be anticipated with respect to economic growth, inflation, fiscal and monetary policy and financial markets.

Key points to be addressed:

• The prospects for 2010 and beyond, including:
o The sustainability of an economic recovery
o The uncertainties surrounding the path of inflation in light of the opposing forces of deep recession
        and massive policy stimulus

• How is the Fed's exit from unprecedented stabilization measures proceeding?

• Will an uncontrolled fiscal expansion crowd out private financing needs and undermine the medium term
   economic outlook
?
