How do organizations become “innovative” - at their core? How can any of us unleash innovation? How do we innovate reliably, time after time? How do we do that NOW, without delays?

Do we know what innovation is? What is its DNA? When thinking “innovation”, we often immediately think “management process”. The management of innovation is useful. . . but only if there’s something to manage, that is to constrain, organize, and make efficient. Achieving sustainable innovation does not happen by putting in place a management process. It is generated first and foremost by the approach – the mental framework – used to think the innovative ideas, corral and select, and put into action so results get produced.  In other words, first get innovation going, then manage it!

In this fun and highly participative session WCNJ members and guests will get very clear about the framework –- premises, perspectives and practices -- that generate innovation that, in turn, produces action and results.  Participants will be challenged to adopt a new way of thinking that contrasts with the conventional rational management approach that actually hinders and restricts innovation.   They will experiment with the two approaches, and experience the impact of each on their ability to innovate.  They will take home ideas for innovating they are ready to put into action, or at the very least a readiness to start generating ideas for beginning to unleash innovation in their organization.

An additional unique aspect of this presentation: there's a lot out there on ideation, but not much on realization.  Obviously, it's bringing creative ideas to reality that counts--and Solange plans to cover that.  Note, also, that this won't just be a "sit and listen" kind of meeting: we're going to do exercises that will give us unique experiences of what innovation is all about.

Speaker Bio:

Solange Perret is the co-founder and partner of the London Perret Roche Group LLC, a management consulting firm founded in 1985, headquartered in Red Bank, New Jersey. Solange holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, studying cultures, how they impact action, and the implications for leadership, team work, and performance. She has conducted workshops on kick-starting and developing an innovation capability, led projects and coached 100's of executives and their teams in leading and realizing breakthrough innovation projects in organizations ranging from very large to small, and in fields including pharmaceutical, chemical, and service-oriented firms.
