5:30 pm – 9:00 pm
McCarter & English, 15th floor, 4 Gateway Center - 100 Mulberry Street, Newark NJ
A short covered walk from Newark Penn Station. Directions.
While our WCNJ alumni entrepreneurs are busy working on their investor pitches, it’s time for our attendees to register to attend. If you’re an entrepreneur or a wannapreneur, learn how it’s done. This is a great opportunity for service providers that serve start-ups and entrepreneurs to get new clients and make new connections. Investors are welcome to attend to hear the pitches, meet the entrepreneurs, and see if you want to continue an investment dialogue.
This event is a great opportunity to learn, connect, and be entertained. We sold out last year’s event so don’t wait to register as we expect another full house.
This event is being held in the Newark office of McCarter & English, LLP, which is connected by covered walkways to Newark Penn Station, so please consider coming by train. Parking at the Gateway complex is not free (sorry!), but there is no event at the Prudential Center so will be very reasonably priced.

"Entrepreneurship: A Mindset of Thought and Action" – Professor Laura Huang, Harvard Business School
Conventional wisdom says that entrepreneurs are a breed apart, seeing the world in a unique way: an entrepreneurial mindset. But Harvard professor Laura Huang argues that rather than being equipped with some special psychological makeup, an entrepreneurial mindset is actually about creating opportunities and turning ideas into action—something that all companies and individuals can cultivate and use as a resource.
MBA Class of 1954 Associate Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School.
Professor Huang’s research primarily examines early-stage entrepreneurship, and the role of interpersonal relationships and implicit factors in the investment decisions of financiers such as angel investors and VCs. She earned a PhD in management from the University of California, Irvine; an MBA from INSEAD; and an MS and BSE in electrical engineering, both from Duke University. Before entering academia, she held positions in investment banking, consulting, and general management, for organizations such as Standard Chartered Bank, IBM Global Services, and Johnson & Johnson, in a variety of global locations. She has also served as an advisor to several start-ups in the US, Europe, Southeast Asia, and China. Her award-winning research has been published in several academic journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and has also been featured in the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, and Nature. She is a 2016 Kauffman Foundation Fellow, and was named one of the 40 Under 40 Best Business School Professors.
