A Special Live Event for Teens and their Parents by the Authority on Admissions Strategy
A Live Presentation with Laurie Kopp Weingarten, CEP, President, One Stop College Counseling
Laurie Kopp Weingarten, CEP, President, One Stop College Counseling
College admissions has changed dramatically over the past few decades and continues to rapidly evolve, often leaving students (and parents) overwhelmed and unsure of how to proceed.
This live session, led by Laurie Kopp Weingarten, co-founder of One-Stop College Counseling, will help families navigate the admission process. Ms. Weingarten will examine the objective (class rigor, grades, test scores) and the subjective (extracurricular activities, teachers/counselor recs, essays, interviews, and character) measures most valued by admission officers. She will also cover application strategies, including demonstrating interest and choosing early-action/early-decision schools. Participants will leave this session with a clear picture of what really counts, and they’ll be better equipped to tackle the complex world of college admissions.
The presentation will also cover the recent changes such as the Supreme Court Affirmative Action ruling, the rise of Chat GPT and other AI, and the push to end legacy admissions.
Don’t miss this invaluable live session, a primer on college admissions strategy, a one-time event from the Wharton Club of New Jersey.
For this event, we welcome all middle school and high school teens and their families, those within and outside the Wharton community!
