You asked for it and it’s here - the Wharton Club of NJ’s Wine & Bike Tour.
This guided countryside bike tour is approximately 10 miles long with some rolling hills. Our journey begins at Unionville Vineyards, located on a 90-acre farm, which is known for its numerous award-winning wines. As we tour the facilities, you will sample these wines and learn about the wine-making process from start to finish. Afterwards, we ride to the beautiful Old York Cellars, which offers an extraordinary experience both inside and outside of the tasting room, along with tastings of more award-winning wines. Remember which one you liked best, because a full glass of your favorite will be served with your catered lunch!
Pour & Pedal provides top-of-the-line hybrid bicycles (and helmets), which are equipped with baskets so you can put your personal belongings in or transport any purchases along the way. In your basket you’ll find your helmet and water bottle. (There’s also an accompanying “chase” van that will transport large purchases, such as cases, and be available if anyone needs a lift along the way.) Please feel free to bring your own equipment if you feel more comfortable. Your tour begins with a short introduction of the staff and the group you will be riding with. Our guides will provide proper safety instructions and guidelines before the fun begins.
Tour guides may stop periodically to point out historical points of interest. At the first winery, be prepared to receive the full experience as you tour through the sprawling acres of vineyards, the tank room, and the barrel cellar. Our guides will share their knowledge of the wine making process and will be happy to answer any questions you have. What tour isn’t complete without a wine tasting? Let the pouring begin!
Sample different wines to see if you have what it takes to become a wine connoisseur. Enjoy some snacks, while taking in the scenery with friends and loved ones. Afterwards, we pedal to the next winery to sample more authentic local wines and indulge in a gourmet picnic lunch.
Please expect to get some exercise! This is a leisurely, recreational tour, but everyone’s fitness levels are different. Pour & Pedal tours consist of a few hills and open road cycling – if you aren’t comfortable with this please consider this before signing up!
